Research
The proposed research programme has two major foci. From a theoretical viewpoint, we seek to test the "shared resources" hypothesis to better understand the biological relationship between music and language, considerably extending the scope of previous research into production and within-subject domains. From an applied viewpoint, we seek to understand the neural basis for aphasia therapies. The functional imaging studies will employ both high-field single-subject fMRI and DTI designs. These new data will enable us to develop and test innovative language rehabilitation techniques.
